I forgot a photo from my Kansas trip! The kids and I are almost to our destination, but we needed to make a pit stop. We are getting back to the car and I notice some dark clouds ahead. I mention to the kids that it looks like it is raining. One cloud caught my attention. (Having lived in the mid-west for a long time, you notice weird looking clouds.) It stood out, because it looked a little swirly, with wispy things coming down. I said to myself, "Self, it is July. Not tornado season. I'm sure things will be fine." So I am driving, minding my own business, the kids hooked up watching a movie. We hit the backside of a pounding rain storm with a lot of wind. And because we were on the back side of it, we went through it pretty fast.
I am driving along and Glenn calls me to say hi, (he is still in Korea). We are chatting and I glance in my driver side mirror and say, "oh shit!" He freaks......."what is wrong." I say, "I need to stop, because there is a tornado! I'll call you back!"
Being the scrapbooker that I am, always prepared with my camera, I pulled over to capture the moment! It was a real life tornado people! I snapped the picture, got back in the van and called my friend to ask her to look up the weather and tell which way this tornado was moving. Because I was moving north at about 80 mph! Hopefully it was moving a different direction! Thankfully it was, but how exciting. And my kids, were completely oblivious to what went on! Here is the picture!
