Okay, so my man is deployed, that is okay, we are working through it and doing fine. The kids want to buy mom something for Christmas, so I will have something under the tree and I will be surprised. Very thoughtful, right. So, Ryan is going shopping with my neighbor and he will pick out something and Sarah wanted to go to Archiver's (a fabulous scrapbook store!).
I told Sarah that I would give her some ideas, I gave her a budget, then I would take Ryan to Toys R Us (a few doors down), then when she was ready to check out I would come back and pay for it. She had it all worked out that it would be in a special bag, so I wouldn't see what she bought. No problem! I get the call that she is finished!
I go to the check-out and the lady says, "Are you ready mom?" I had a worried look on my face! Why would she say that???? "Your total is $216.xx ( I didn't hear what the cents were, because I was still spinning from the $216! I asked the lady if she could wait a minute, because I gave her a budget! Now, don't get me wrong, I really wanted to hand over the credit card, because I was VERY intrigued by what $216.xx could be! But I snapped out of it. She is her mother's daughter!
I talked to Sarah and told her that I really appreciated all that she picked out, but I can't buy all of that. She would have to put some stuff back. (Glenn, you would be proud of me!) So, Ryan and I stepped outside while she made her choices and she came within $2 of the budget. I was proud of her!
..................but I am still VERY curious what $216.xx was!...............That is just pure love!

Oh my goodness. I bet it was something AWESOME! Incidentally, you'd have more stuff under the tree if you didn't open the package right when the mailman drives away...
I just didn't think about waiting Jen! I'm sorry! I was so excited!
I am proud of the whole family. It is these times where we know that we are doing a god job being parents. Depending on the budget, I probably would have let it go, but as you said, it is all about love.
@ Glenn: WHAT?! I wish that you would have been on the phone at that moment to authorize an extravagant purchase! Although, you don't know what I've purchased already! LOL
