In order to keep track of how many days we have left, the kids and I decided we would pick out a candy and keep it in a jar and everyday we would take out one piece of candy. I picked Jelly Bellies, because they are small and just didn't seem to be so overwhelming to look at 365 of them! My little man picked out Twizzler pieces and my girl picked out Starburst....we had to squeeze and push those last pieces in!

Countdown
So, today is the day. This looming day that we have known about for a year, give or take a day or two. Regardless, it has come and gone and we are okay. Sad. But okay. You keep busy, keep a schedule, visit more friends and family. Before you know it, you will be in single digits for the arrival!

That is such a good idea...I'm totally gonna steal it when it's my turn.

That is a great idea for a countdown!
I have not been through what you are going through but can understand how hard it must be.
Hang in there and prayers for the hubby.
Thank you for your sacrifice of a year apart from your man.

Our deepest thanks to your husband and your entire family for the sacrifices you make for all of us. My family will think of yours often and keep you in our prayers.
Hi Leigh,
I'm Dawn's Aunt Joan. I've heard so much about you yaya girls I feel I know you somehow. I wish you well (and your husband) during this separation time. I pray for you to have strength and believe that this trying time will go quickly. Keep busy and speak to God often "He'll hear you". Good luck sweetie and God Bless you both.
Thank you for the sacrifices your entire family is making. Love your idea for the countdown.
Dawn spoke of your husband's deployment and asked for her readers to leave a comment....here is mine
What a wonderful day it will be when you reach the bottom of those candy jars and find your husband back home with you all.
Thank you all for the sacrafices you are making. I hope the year goes quickly. Think of all the quilts you can make between now and then!
I'll be thinking of you and yours with this deployment...I'll be there soon!! Good luck!!!
Thanks to everyone for your wonderful comments. Thanks Dawn..you're the best!
A huge thank you for YOUR service! My prayers will be with your entire family...and most of all your soldier!
~AirmanMom returning to her blog...
Hsng in there. My family went through the same, only it was 1969 and the location was South East Asia. The only thing I think might be easier today is the availability of email and cell phones.
I had hoped the world learned something from that era, guess not.
You are stonger than you ever thought and that strength will be tested. So many people forget what it is like to be the family back home.
You are in my thoughts and prayers and I salute YOU!
Leigh,
What a fun way to keep track of the countdown. Thank you so much for your service.
Though I am Canadian, I have adopted an American soldier and send letters, postcards, care packages and cards to her. I have sponsored three soldiers in the last three years.
Thinking of you and I have your family added to my prayer list. We're all here for you.
Blessings,
Mary
What a great countdown idea! Can't say I know how you are feeling but wanted you to know you and your family are in my thoughts for the next 365 days.
What a great way to count down the days! I followed a link from Dawn's blog and am hoping that time passes quickly for you all and that Glenn stays safe.
By the way, I don't know much about the army but my FIL was retired Army and wore the same 1st Cav patch.
